What is a private AI notepad?
Hibiscus stores your notes on your Mac and offers AI tools for rewriting, summarizing, and extracting tasks. Choose on-device AI or a local Ollama model for local processing. If you select a cloud provider, the content needed for that request goes to that provider. No account is required to try the app.

Give a draft a next step
Paste a planning draft, dictate an idea, or import a document. Ask for a summary or a proposed task list. Review the result in the same note, checking names, dates, and decisions against your source.
Choose where AI runs
Storage and AI processing are separate choices. Your library stays in local app data, while the model determines where an AI request is processed.

Check an edit before keeping it
AI edit history preserves the text from before an AI change. Compare and restore the earlier version when you prefer it. Lock notes that should be unavailable to the assistant while locked.

Does Hibiscus require an account?
No. An account is not required to create, edit, search, import, or export local notes.
Does Hibiscus upload every note to AI?
No. AI access depends on the route and action you choose; locked notes are excluded while locked.
Does the trial need a card?
No card or account is required. Trial activation and license checks need internet. After the trial, existing notes remain readable and exportable; continuing to create and edit requires a license.
